Meet the board of trustees who bring a wealth of business experience and key skills to support the trust

The job of Alive Leisure is to shape the delivery and promotion of leisure services, deliver a sports development programme and manage major leisure events for the town. Alive Leisure will commission the services through the newly established Local Authority Company (Alive Management Ltd) which will be responsible for the operational management and delivery of leisure services on a day to day basis.

Alive Leisure took over the management of King’s Lynn Corn Exchange, Lynnsport, St James Pool, Downham Market Leisure Centre and the Oasis from 1 September 2014.

The board members are Michael Andrews, Peter Lemon, Ian Mack, Abbie Panks, Ian Trundley, Avril Wright, Nigel Maggs-Oosterhagen and Marie Connell. Together, they bring a wealth of business experience and key skills to support the trust as it takes over the management of the borough councils leisure facilities.

Peter Lemon


Peter is a local business man who has supported various local sports clubs, Kings Lynn Festival and Festival Too.

He is a keen sportsman involved with several sports clubs including Pelicans Hockey Club and North Runcton Cricket Club.

Peter has recently qualified as a National Hockey League Umpire and continues to play golf and squash, he enjoys walking and cycling and recently rode from London to Paris for Action Medical Research.

Ian Mack

Vice Chairman

Ian is a local GP and Chair of the West Norfolk Clinical Commissioning Group.

With a number of years’ experience on Boards of NHS organisations he is well-versed in developing strategic direction, determining policy and the use of targets to encourage delivery of objectives.

Ian is an active member of the King’s Lynn Festival Chorus and also attends musical events in King’s Lynn.

Michael Andrews


Michael is a Chartered Accountant & partner at Stephenson Smart in King’s Lynn.

He was born and educated in King’s Lynn and has been actively involved with various local sports clubs.

Michael is a keen member of King’s Lynn Badminton Club, having been men’s captain for a number of years.

Abbie Panks


Abbie is the Centre Manager for the Vancouver Shopping Centre in King’s Lynn.

She is committed to community engagement and has been a board member and key strategic advisor to the Fairyland Trust charity since its inception.

Ian Trundley


Ian was born and raised in the King’s Lynn area. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Architectural Technologists.

He has worked on many local projects during which he is responsible for the project budget, procurement and continual monitoring of the process.

Ian’s leisure interests include rugby and he is involved with the West Norfolk Rugby Club where he is currently coaching the under thirteen’s team.

Nigel Maggs-Oosterhagen


Nigel has a broad background in leadership and management in the public, corporate and charity sectors. Following a career as a Merchant Navy Officer in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary he became an FE and HE lecturer in Human Resources Management.

His interest in people development has led him to be Training Development /BDM for Cambridge Assessment’s Customer Services Department and subsequently a Leadership and Learning Consultant. He has supported different organisations and individuals developing business strategies, identifying organisational development and managing change.

Nigel has recently slowed his consultancy work down and enjoys a part-time role as Membership Officer at the Anglican Shrine in Walsingham. He has a Masters Degree in Education Leadership and Management, is a member of the Chartered Management Institute, an Academic Member of the CIPD and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
